October 1, 2011 The Occupy Wall Street protest shut down the outbound lane of the Brooklyn Bridge this afternoon. The protest, and occupation is expected to last for a month and is trying to curb the influence of big business over Washington lawmakers. NYPD officers stood in front of the bridge, and let no one across for four hours while 700 protesters were arrested and taken off the bridge in NYC Dept. of Corrections buses. Protesters in front of City Hall shouted Let Them Go, referring to the crowd on the bridge .
